Centre To States: Ensure Adequate Oxygen Supply, Prepare For Any Eventuality

The Union Health Ministry has directed the States and UTs to ensure that Pressure Swing Absorption (PSA) oxygen-generating plants are ready and functional while holding regular mock drills to test them

The Union government on Saturday requested the States and UTs to make available Liquid Medical Oxygen, enough stock of cylinders and operational life support medical devices like ventilators at hospitals to tackle any upcoming challenge, the news agency PTI has reported.

The Union Health Ministry has directed the States and UTs to ensure that Pressure Swing Absorption (PSA) oxygen-generating plants are ready and functional while holding regular mock drills to test them.

In an official letter Manohar Agnani, Additional Secretary of, the Union Health Ministry has said that readiness and maintenance of the medical infrastructure of the country remain to be the utmost priority to meet any challenge or eventuality while taking note of the fact that India currently is reporting a low number of Covid cases.

The Minister added that oxygen is a crucial and vital resource in all medical settings, especially during the managing pandemic as a reliable supply of oxygen is important in numerous saving lives.

He said medical oxygen is an important and vital resource in all clinical settings, particularly during pandemic management and that reliable oxygen supply is critical for saving lives during patient care and Covid-19 management.

Earlier on Friday, Mandaviya advised the state authorities to enhance and strengthen Covid-19 surveillance system,  and ramp up testing and ensure readiness of hospital infrastructure.

The Union Health Minister also informed on his official Twitter handle that there is no need to panic for the country as it has 3 years of experience in tackling the pandemic and the centre will provide all support required to combat the virus and will take action as and when required.
