According to Israel's health ministry, a case of a subvariant of the Delta Coronavirus previously identified in other European nations has been confirmed.
“The variant AY 4.2. that has been discovered in a number of countries in Europe has been identified in Israel,”according to a ministry statement released late Tuesday.
The carrier was an 11-year-old youngster who arrived from Europe, according to the ministry, who said that the case was discovered in Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion airport. According to the government, the youngster was isolated and no more interactions were detected. The AY 4.2. variant has been seen in the United Kingdom on several occasions.
Bennett suggested that an epidemiological examination into the new variety be expanded, as well as collaboration with other nations where the sub-variant has been found.
Authorities started an aggressive effort to inoculate individuals with a third, booster shot of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, which successfully reduced the number of infections.
According to a statement from his office, Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett convened an emergency meeting with health ministry officials on Wednesday and said that Israel would take measures to safeguard the positive results of the virus fight.
